The Process:
Gold Between the Rows | 2026

Painted during a season of transition, this work reflects the quiet ways places become intertwined with those we love. The vineyard rows, sun-warmed earth, and familiar hillside hold traces of daily rituals and joyful presence, reminding us that certain landscapes continue to deepen in meaning each time we return to them.

While I did not capture many process photos for this piece, I followed a similar order of events as usual: make a solid drawing, block in the darks and shadows, add the mid-tones, then start building up the lights.

The main focus on this piece is to show the golden hour light filtering through the grape leaves and drenching the soil between the rows with warm, golden light. After adding some bits of brighter colors and lights, the painting is complete!
The light remembers.
